Developing Direction

We are inviting applicants for our  first DEVELOPING DIRECTION programme.  One Emerging /Graduate theatre director with some professional experience will be invited to work with Second Age over a four month period, during which time the successful director, will be given hands on experience of directing both large and small scale productions, both here and in the United States.

WHAT THE PROGRAM HAS TO OFFER

  • Successful candidate will work closely with 3 directors on 2 separate Second Age productions and  attend the technical and dress rehearsal process of a production in Pittsburgh  USA *
  • Experience the process of casting large-scale productions
  • Gain experience in the rehearsal process
  • Engage in and gain independent experience of bringing a large scale production on tour.
  • Gain exposure to the working practices of experienced and established theatre professionals both in Ireland and the USA.
  • The program takes place over a period of 4 months.

WHAT COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE

  • Work fulltime with the company during rehearsal periods
  • Be available to get the production into each tour venue.
  • Be available on an ad-hoc basis to assist with casting and auditions

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • The successful candidate will be offered a stipend to assist with living expenses throughout the period of the mentorship
  • All travel expenses and per diems will be paid in accordance with the company’s current touring rates.
